A Proof of Concept (PoC) project aims to demonstrate the feasibility of a novel vector control product by gathering evidence to test the design theory and highlight how viable the route to market is.
PoC engagements are short duration projects, typically undertaken by academics and smaller industry companies, to identify a ‘New Product Class for Malaria’ and/or a ‘New Product Class for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs)’, and test if the theory works in practice. Funding is flexible for these projects according to testing requirements and the novelty of the project.
If the target product offers a new complementary product for the vector control toolbox, meets the External Scientific Advisory Committee (ESAC) evaluation criteria and/or shows a dramatic improvement over what is already in the vector control pipeline, the project will be sufficiently advanced for further development.
